Digital fairs – Any port in a storm or real opportunity?
This discussion has been ever present in the industry, so we have been told by many industry professionals. And that has become more of a talking point, at least, since Mostra Convegno and Messe Frankfurt had to cancel the face-to-face fairs. Replacing a face-to-face trade fair with a purely digital format, or even pitting one against the other, was ruled out from the start.
The construction industry, including the supply of building materials, remains one of the very few sectors to have increased capacity during the pandemic. Such resilience in business does not often go unnoticed.
Major challenge for industry: material supply and price rises
The building services wholesalers currently have to pay particular attention to commodity prices and availability. This could become the sword of Damocles hanging over the industry in 2021 - alongside the pandemic. Copper has already seen double-digit price increases twice this year by producers.
